Lorraine Grace Wogksch Smart
February 14, 1964 - September 30, 2026
Lorraine "Lorrie" Grace Wogksch Smart, age 62, passed away peacefully at her home in Eagle Mountain, Utah on September 30th, 2026, surrounded by her family after a valiant battle with esophageal cancer.
Lorrie was born on February 14th, 1964 in Glen Cove, New York to Richard and Florence Wogksch. She was raised in Long Island and New Jersey and at the age of 10, her family moved to the Provo/Orem area of Utah. She attended Provo High School and graduated from Mountain View High School in 1982. She went on to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Little Rock, Arkansas from 1985 to 1986.
Lorrie married Mike Smart on June 23rd, 2018 at The Barn in Lindon, Utah. They first met while serving their missions, went their separate ways, and eventually found their way back to each other. On August 23rd, 2024, 38 years after they first met, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Draper Temple. Their journey back to one another was a beautiful reminder that some stories are worth waiting for.
Lorrie had a beautiful voice, loved to sing, and was almost unbeatable at music trivia, often able to name nearly any song within the first few seconds. She enjoyed fishing and loved to host; her door was always open to anyone in need of a delicious meal and a warm welcome. Her home was always immaculate, like a model home, and few things excited her more than getting a new vacuum or steamer.
For many years, Lorrie brought Christmas magic to countless families as Mrs. Claus alongside her husband, Mike, who played Santa. Above all, she loved the Gospel and her family, faithfully serving in many callings and treasuring every moment spent with those she loved.
Lorrie found her true calling in motherhood. Her path to becoming a mother was not an easy one and she carried her son Dalton in her heart always. Mitchell was her miracle and he brought her so much joy. She was endlessly proud of him.
What Lorrie will be remembered for most is her kind heart. She had a gift for making everyone feel loved and special; she wanted to learn all she could about the people in her life. She was the family historian and her memory for the details of those she loved was remarkable.
Lorrie is survived by her husband, Mike Smart; her mother, Florence Wogksch; her son, Mitchell Lee Hargis; and her bonus children, Shaylee Cummings, Brittany Hansen, and Chase Villescas-Twede. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dylan, Ezra, and Eoin Hansen, and Sylas and Ryden Cummings; her siblings, Florence Behl (Bill), Richard Wogksch Jr. (Kara), Amy Edwards (Elan), and Paul Wogksch (Amy); her 10 nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Bear and cat, Molly.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Dalton Hargis; her father, Richard Wogksch Sr.; and her maternal grandmother, Irene Francis Phillips.
In her honor, her family has chosen the phrase "Live Like Lorrie”. It’s more than a saying; it’s a reminder of the way she lived. To Live Like Lorrie is to love deeply, serve faithfully, welcome others with an open door, sing loudly, cherish family, remember the little things, and make everyone you meet feel loved.
May we all carry a little bit of Lorrie with us and Live Like Lorrie.
